Who Am I?

Edited IMG_9342.jpg

My name is Jenn Tran, and I am currently a fifth year Education student. I am enrolled in the concurrent stream in the Werklund School of Education in Calgary and my specialization is in secondary Visual Fine Arts. This website will be used throughout my practicums and will serve as a portfolio to showcase the work I have achieved and things I have learned.

I wanted to become a teacher since I was in grade 2. I grew up with a handful of great teachers throughout my K-12, but it was really my own art teacher in high school that made me realize I wanted to go into this profession. She was not only a wonderful teacher, but she offered me so much support and I realized one of the main reasons why I wanted to pursue education is because I want to be able to offer that kind of care and support for other people too!

As I began to delve more into teaching through volunteering and summer jobs, I developed amazing relationships with all sorts of different learners. Through these relationships, I quickly learned how rewarding teaching truly is. I have a growing passion for helping students succeed. I want the best for all of those who come into my classroom. There is an amazing TedTalk: Every Kid Needs a Champion that essentially states, "Every child deserves a champion—an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection, and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be.” I want to be there for my students and be a teacher/adult in their lives who will offer them the care and support they deserve.
