Establishing Inclusive Learning Environments

Summer_edited_edited.jpg

During the spring of 2019, I had the opportunity to create my own lesson plans in preparation for my summer job at Mini University. During that summer, I was able to put my lessons into action with my own classroom and set of campers from grade 2-9 for around 8 weeks.

I chose this image to represent how I incorporated an inclusive learning environment for my grade 2's. It is a good example of this because I developed this lesson to showcase diversity; not just in the campers' appearances and backgrounds, but in the way they drew and designed as well. It was important to me as their instructor to make sure they all felt validated by their drawing abilities and felt safe and respected in the shared space. (Alberta Education, 2018). I believe through this project, I was able to be cognizant of the different/specific learning needs and strengths of each individual into the learning and creating process.
